Who We Are: Meet John & Elizabeth Leonard

// Why is talking about oneself ..... really strange... ? // [[staring blankly at the page...]]
So... if I had to sum up "who we are" in a simple, concise blog post (first time blogger here!) I'd say there's... well, not much to say. ...We're pretty "ordinary" people.
Here's some basic "fun facts" about us:
We grew up in California in the 80s and 90s when life was relatively simple -- maybe because we were just kids but maybe also because it was a different time in our culture.
John grew up playing baseball and I grew up in dance and cheer.
We met several years after college as complete strangers and have been inseparable ever since! We now have two young children. We just celebrated our 10th anniversary and we've moved quite a bit in our time dating and married.
John majored in Journalism; I majored in Performing Arts and Communication. I know -- the journalism major should be writing this blog, but you're stuck with me!
We both had corporate careers - John in sales and account management for 20 years and as for me, in marketing and teaching for 10 years.
We later moved across the country and have made North Carolina home ever since. We've lived in NC for about 6 years now: 3 in Wake Forest, 3 in Washington.
By all accounts, nothing too exciting -- right? Pretty standard; pretty ordinary. But we are not your standard realtor team and we are not ordinary in our thinking.
Because if I dig deeper, the story that brought us to this point is probably pretty interesting, but more importantly, relatable.
It's likely you've experienced something similar to us - not just cause we're all human creatures living human lives - but because if you're here on our website, you may be looking for something different or better -- and we can relate. And here we are turning the page to live another chapter. And live it well.
If I had to rate us on a scale from zero to bold, I'd say we are pretty BOLD.
People often ask us how we ended up in Washington. Was it for a job? Family here? Went to school here and just stayed? So when we say, "just because" -- it's confusing for people.
Most people don't just move across the country for no reason. The truth is, we researched like crazy. We spent countless hours diving as deep as we could go online without visiting.
Then we visited. We fell in love before we even got here and then became infatuated within half a day off that plane. We were hooked - love at first sight.
Launching our local team [Leonard Real Estate NC] has been a wonderful experience for us and we are honored to be your trusted advocate, partner in this journey, fellow neighbor and friend, and support system in whatever way you need. We gave ourselves the freedom to dream and think "outside of the box" and the result is this local real estate team: ready to serve your needs, in unique ways that matter most.
Our logo is a literal box - a 3D square - just 4 walls - with three arrows pointing upward and outward of those 4 walls. We are reaching beyond the standard transactional relationship. Literally and figuratively.
We are diving deep into the human side of real estate and the more comprehensive approach most people shy away from. It's usually too complicated for most people.
For us, it makes sense. And it's simple.
All our experiences have strategically led us to the point we can confidently say we help you:

We moved here looking for something - a catalyst - that would help us live more simply, live more intentionally, and truly enjoy every moment. What we got exceeded even those expectations. We found Washington, North Carolina, and the rest is so easy we mistake it for utopia. We wonder if we're on a set in a movie. This is just too good to be true - but it is true.
So who are we? Just two California 'kids' who relocated to the Carolinas. Two people who are so convicted [aka extremely stubborn] about our beliefs and passions ....that here we are. For really no reason but our convictions on how life should be lived.
And we are so ready to help you - give you our practical knowledge based on experience, provide you real-time, fact based data to support your home buying and selling strategy, support you in your real-life needs to make your vision reality, and become friends -- hopefully neighbors too.
